Two strangers, a man and a woman, are confined in Budapest in the late of night. Their clothes are stolen by corrupt plutocrats, and they are forced to “make love” with each other as a spectacle. Later, they come together and try to overwrite the memories of their shared tragedy with “true love.” What is the labyrinth that they wander into when they try to change the humiliation of that night into revenge? Along with his name piece title, The Transparent Labyrinth, Hirano also wrote other masterful collections of tragicomic short stories written with a sensual touch, such as Re: Yoda’s Request, a story about the strange experience of a playwright narrowly escaping death.
